Urban Active

I left the gym last night at 10:00 pm.... then woke up again at 5:00 am for another session. My trainer gave me a big round of applause for I probably shocked him by being there so early. I have evening plans every night this week & still need to work out. So, morning calls.

Y'all know I am sucker for a good gym. This summer, Urban Active opened its doors to Atlanta and launched the first of its kind of Georgia. Known for being in Ohio & Kentucky, is was time for them to bring the gym to some southern soil.

I joined within the first day of my trial and really enjoy going there. The hours are great & I hear the classes are great too. I don't attend classes, which is funny considering I was an aerobic instructor in college at Liberty University, but these days, I like to stick to my own routine... or the one my trainer assigns me when I am not with him that particular day. I am about to start kettle bell training as well as TRX!

I work out with my trainer a good two times per week, sometimes three, sometimes none depending on my schedule. I always have a back-up workout in case we have a clash in schedules.  I have always voiced on my blog that I am not scared of weights or other crazy stuff. I enjoy getting in the "big boy room" (so I call it) and lifting amongst the rest of them. In my running skort. And yes, gentlemen, it's a skort and there are shorts underneath so stop freaking out.

So, I wanted to first of all applaud the gym I an now a member of but also wanted to talk shoes. Not pretty heels, but sneakers, running shoes, tennis shoes, whatever you may call them. Because I work out so much, I literally now have holes from the wear and tear of my shoes. Here I have this cute workout attire on, but awful, ratty shoes. It's about time for some new ones! Now, I am not a 'runner'. I run. A few miles for cardio purposes only. Not for fun. I am not a big fan of running so I am by no means a pro at running shoes. But I do know cute tennis shoes (that's the term I use) when I see them!

I found some cute ones at Dick's Sporting Goods, but I hear that Famous Footwear currently has a BOGO offer going on which has me thinking of cheating. 2 tennis shoes would be pheonom! Of course, pink is my favorite, but I am not a big brander with tennis shoes. I like Nike, but would definitely consider New Balance or Asics. What is your favorite tennis shoe and why?

  1. I'm a big runner...and learned the hard way what happens when you get shoes that don't fit correctly. Make sure you get a pair that fit to your pronation (over, under, or neutral). If you go to Dick's, they'll probably be able to help you out better. Right now I have a pair of Nike's and a pair of Saucony. My favorite have always been Asics though and I'll probably go back to them in a few months. Running shoes should be replaced every 400 miles (or 6 months--of use).

  2. Asics are my favorite! I'm hoping to get outside and get back into some running now that the weather has cooled down a bit.

  3. Asics are definitely my favorite. They're reasonably priced and they always have great purple/pink colors! If you do the BOGO you'll have an extra pair when you need them in 6 months anyway! Good luck :)
