I am writing this post today because I love Starbucks and I go several times per week! I know it probably isn't the best addiction, but to each his own. At least I don't blow loads of money on alcohol every weekend.
Back in "February", (which by the way, from here on out, if I have to refer to the broken engagement for whatever reason, I am going to just say, "back in February", ok? ok!), we shared the Starbucks Gold Card. I actually carried it with me in my wallet. Funny story -- like two days after stuff hit the fan, I went to my local Starbucks and handed them the gold card to get my discount. They told me that the card had been cancelled and that a new one had been sent to the account's address. I could not help my DIE laughing. Glad the priorities were straight and all! So, I had to get my own little card, which I gladly use all the time!
Many friends have asked me how to get to gold level. You start out getting one of those adorable gift cards for yourself and loading money on it. Say.... $20. Be sure to go online to www.Starbucks.com and register your card. That will start your point tracking. Eventually, and many coffees later, you will reach gold level and receive a gold shiny card in the mail with your name on it! After that, you get a free drink after every 15 purchases plus other perks like free drip refills while in the store, free flavored syrups, etc.
Go Starbucks Gold!

I can't believe I'd never heard of this card...and I live in the land of Starbucks! I am ashamed, and now curious.
ReplyDeleteIs cancelling a Starbuck's Gold Card considered petty? Um, yep.
I actually just put 'get a Sbux gold card' on my post it list of things to do...thanks!
Oh you are kidding me! That was a priority for him? Jerk!
ReplyDeleteBut thanks for the tip on the card. I had no idea. I do register my gift cards but I often forget to use them. I need to get on the ball now!
Oh wow, thanks for the tip about the Starbucks gold card! I can't believe I never heard of this before..? :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments here. I can't believe that was a priority for him. Glad you were able to laugh about it, darlin'. :)
First time commenter, and I love your writing, and admire you for how classy you have been throughout everything since "back in February" when I somehow stumbled upon your blog. As a new follower, I didn't feel right about commenting back then, but reading about how the gold card was cancelled, I have to say, you are meant to be with someone who truly has his priorities in order, with you first on the list.
ReplyDeleteI am at Starbucks sometimes 5 days a week, but not for me. My boss is addicted to Starbucks shaken black tea venti - no water. Used to take 8 pumps of sweetner, but we've got him down to 2 with a splash of lemonade. I shouldn't enable him, but when he offers to "buy if I fly" for lunch, I can't say no. And yes, he's got the gold card too.
Congrats on your move to Atlanta too!
This might just be my new goal. Although I do like living in denial of how many times I actually go to Starbucks.
ReplyDeleteHe cancelled the card?!? Seriously sounds like a Seinfeld plot line!!! You are so much better off girl! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all.. I'm cracking up about "Back in February". Next, I'm cracking up about the canceling of your card. People amaze me. hehe Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he did that! Call me crazy, but the joint Starbucks Gold Card would be the last thing I'd be thinking about at a time like that, lol!
ReplyDeleteThe Gold Card is the best thing ever...my favorite is the post cards for free drinks :)
ReplyDeleteI have a gold card and I LOVE it. I can't have dairy so it's great to get my soy milk for free!
ReplyDeleteand I'm a new reader but this whole cancelling the card account is so petty I can already tell you're better off! go you!
