Just laugh
What do you do when you are wearing jewelry from all 3 ex boyfriends in the same day? Laugh... and be thankful you got to keep some nice goodies out of the deal!

Pastel Pallet
The typical 'me' always reaches for hot pink, lime green, and turquoise in the summer. However, I am noticing the trend here this coming spring, that pastels are definitely the pallet to have right now. I think the color assortments are so pretty -- at J.Crew especially. I will be honest - this is going to take some work for me because I am so used to bold colors, but I think with a few pieces here and there I can pull it all together. The right makeup will be key, as well. I suggest investing in a few things: a soft pink shimmer eye shadow, rosy cream blush for a dewy complexion, as well as a pink lipgloss. Less is definitely more, so do not go over dramatic. Allow your face to look natural to match the fresh, clean wardrobe.
I am forgoing my typical hot pink or bright yellow swim suit and will go with a white one this year. I am really liking the bandaeu tops! The added ruffles are adorbale.
What's on your spring pallet?
I tag:

Pink Julep

Peeptoe Pumps and Pearls

Georgetown Cupcake.. mmm!
I was in D.C. for work last Thursday & Friday. I always love going and staying in a different area. After meetings during the day, I take time to explore new places/restaurants, etc. I have always heard Georgetown Cupcake was amazing. I have lived in D.C. for an accumulation of eight months over the past several years, and I cannot believe I never took the time to visit this cupcake mastery.
I got here around 5:30 (yes, I drove myself and mastered my way through the Key Bridge and M Street and EVEN found a parking spot on the same block! = so proud) and the line, as always, was out the door. I waited about 30 min. and then finally was able to step inside the little shop. It is adorbale! All pink, white, and black! Each cupcake is $2.75, so I picked out a few, got my little pink and black box, and went back to my hotel. My favorite was the red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. I will have to try another one next time I go!

Valentines Day
Today is fairly self-explanatory! We had a sleepover last night and I woke up around 10. I did some cleaning and laundry (which I love to do) and then decided to make my home-made sugar cookies. I bought a big heart cookie-cutter a few weeks ago and wanted to put it to use!

I also painted my nails to help bring in the spirit. I love this color... OPI Dutch Tulips.

Top 5 V-Day facts
Since it is V-day, my first single one in a long while, I thought I would have a spin-off of what Queen B did, and reveal some of my top 5 dating history facts.
1. My freshman year of college, I went on a different date with a different guy almost every weekend. It got to the point where it was almost embarrassing. My lovely BFFs (Jen and Shelby) never let me live it down.
2. I officially experienced 'like at first sight' while I was interning in D.C. junior year of college. He was a Marine. Best fling ever & funnest too. I had never experienced so many butterflies before! Too bad we had total opposite spiritual beliefs... being why it was short-lived.
3. I have always dated guys over 6 feet tall. Not sure why. They have all had blond hair. I guess that's my 'type'?
4. I have tried dating a friend. We realized real quick we needed to just be friends.
5. I have experienced 'wrong timing' with someone really cool. Have you ever experienced such a strong click with someone on multiple levels, but through a series of confusing events, you both started dating other people? Then, it hits both of you like six months later, and it's definitely too late.
Okay, can't believe I just let you in on all that!
Happy V day! I will be working, which is fine by me!

Career Guide
About a week ago, I met with a career counselor. I have a general idea of what I want to do eventually, but it always feels nice to have someone reaffirm that 'yes, that is what I should do and this is what I am good at.' My major was Public Relations & Advertising -- minor in Government. I scored the highest on my career test in legislation and politics. What is it about me that I love the government realm, but I despise research and writing on difficult topics that take forever to grasp? I have no desire to go to law school either. Not for me. So, what is it about the government that attracts me? Power? Money? Possibly. I personally think it is glam. Any guy that tells me he works for the government, automatically goes up several notches in my mind. I find it so attractive!
Someone asked me the other day if I want to try to eventually work for a large PR firm. No. Here is why: I know a lot of you do, and I think it is a great, fun job! It is a job I trained for during college and would be familiar with. However, I tend to be the type that enjoys going into a company as the sole PR coordinator -- this company hired you internally because they know nothing about marketing or public relations -- so, they think you are fantastic and will rely on you for the majority of their community and media relation needs. Now, if that doesn't make you feel good, then I don't know what would! Imagine the media needing a statement from your company for whatever reason >> You're the girl they ask! It would make me feel empowered as a woman! I feel like working in PR internally for a company would also give me lots of lead way to develop ideas and strategies without being micromanaged by account execs.
Eventually, I could really see myself combining both together and working in public affairs/government relations. It intrigues me! I know with my next job, I will not settle until I have found what will both make me happy and pay the bills!

Low-Lights again
I'm going to get low-lights again. I feel like the corporate world will take me more seriously if I change my Barbie hair to more of a softer blond.
Also, I have been reading a lot of your blogs, and some talk about their love of protein powder. Please feel free to share with me your recommendations! I want to get some this weekend. Is there a certain brand I should get? Whey? What about a good flavor? I have a magnificent blender that I already make very healthy smoothies in, but I want to start adding protein to help trim up for summer.
Here are some pictures from this weekend!

The movie we have all been waiting for
I know, I know... I should receive the 'bad blogger award' today for not blogging ALL week long. I have honestly had one of the busiest weeks-work-wise- in a long time. I think my brain is officially fried, and I am excited my boss is letting me tap out at 4:00 today.
Tonight, one of my best friends, Dave is making his grand entrance into town, so a group of friends and I are going to dinner and to see "He's Just Not That Into You." I am pretty sure this movie will be a hit on many blogs this week. I have had this book since my freshman year of college. It is high-lighted, marked, red-penned, page creased, you name it -- it has been my dating Bible for several years! Most of the info in that book is so true! I have caught myself having so many 'duh' and 'ahah!' moments. It helps you see the light.
Example: If a guy that I go on a date with says he is going to call and then I do not hear from him ever again, I take the hint! .... there isn't a chance that I am going to text him 'just to make sure he didn't lose my #." That is where I think a lot of girls/women lose their sense of independence and rock-out mindset. Have some spunk and realize he is the idiot. Albeit, I have had guy friends stop by my apartment from time to time and pick up that pink & green book on my coffee table, read through it, and say that a lot of it wasn't true. But you have to ask yourself.... If a guy really was THAT into you, then why would he be okay with ya'll 'seeing other people?' Or, why would he just want to talk to you once a week? A guy that wants you, and truly wants you, will want you all to himself. So, the next time you are tempted in the slightest way to text a guy you haven't heard from in a while that took you on a few dates.... don't. Save yourself the energy and him the ego-boost.
There. That's my little lecture for the day!

Four days too long
I am having withdrawals from not blogging since Thursday! Too long. I spent almost two hours catching up on everyone's posts from the past few days.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
My trip went well! It was busy and filled with meetings. I did get to see someone pretty neat!
On Friday, I was on my way to a lunch meeting. I was walking down the sidewalk on 15th St. near McPhereson Square, and all of a sudden I and others were stopped by Secret Service who informed us that the sidewalk was blocked off momentarily and told us to wait. It all happened so quickly and I did not think to get my camera ready, but 4 black SUVs pull up and out walks Michelle Obama and Jill Biden. They were having lunch at Georgia Brown's with the mayor of D.C. It was later on the news. Although I personally did not vote for Obama, I was still starstrck when I saw her! Very neat and random opportunity! By the time they left lunch, of course all of that area found out she was there and there was a mob outside the restaurant. I was excited that I was one of the few that saw her go in because no one really knew she was there.

Tonight is the Super Bowl-- woo hoo. I do not really care for these teams, but have had fun watching it with my fun roomies! I am definitely not looking forward to work tomorrow, as it is going to be one long week.
Lastly, thanks to all for your comments on my previous post. Everyone is too cute and sweet. I am glad there are other girls in the same boat as me. =)
I also received my giveaway prize! Thank you, Queen B! I cannot wait to start reading this book and it looks so nice on my bookshelf.
